Updating GX6605S software almost always fixes something, but it can also introduce new quirks. Here are the most common post-update issues I ran into and how they were resolved.
Blank or frozen channel list after update: this usually clears up after a full factory reset from the menu rather than a simple reboot, since cached channel data can conflict with the new firmware’s database structure.
Remote control lag or unresponsive buttons: in most cases this pointed to an incomplete flash. Re-flashing the same dump file a second time, this time with a freshly formatted USB drive, resolved it consistently.
Tuner not detecting signal at all: this was the most serious issue and, in two cases, required reverting to the previous backed-up firmware. It’s a strong reminder to always keep a backup dump before updating.
HDMI output flickering or wrong resolution: usually fixed by manually setting the resolution in the AV settings menu rather than relying on auto-detect after a firmware change.
Verdict: Most post-update problems are recoverable, but having a backup of your working firmware before updating is essential, not optional.
