The GX6605S2 is positioned as the refined successor to the original GX6605S, so I compared boards running both chipsets side by side to see if the upgrade is meaningful.

Boot times on the GX6605S2 are noticeably faster, and menu transitions feel smoother, likely thanks to a revised processor clock and improved memory handling. Channel scanning also completed faster in testing, shaving real time off a full blind scan.

Software-wise, the GX6605S2 builds I tried included more refined PowerVu autoroll integration out of the box, whereas equivalent features on the original GX6605S often needed third-party add-on software layered on top.

That said, the original GX6605S still has the larger, more mature modding community, so finding dumps, fixes, and tutorials for it remains easier than for the newer chip, at least for now.

Verdict: GX6605S2 offers a genuinely better out-of-the-box software experience, but the original GX6605S still wins on community support and available resources.
